-leftover fruit + ice + a little splenda = rocking slushies & plenty left over for italian ice type snacks!
-puppers thinks our bed is her bed now..  um yea no. as much as i love her.. she has her own bed.
-the weather has been wicked.. i saw a trampoline in a front yard on my drive in if thats any indication.
-trains are still comforting to me.  its good thinking time.
-just dance 2 - just sweat is awesome. just sayin'.
-i'm itching to weigh in everyday, but that only sets me up for disappointment. must resist the urge!
-today i'm eating the last of the avocado dip. i'm sad.  it is my favorite afterall.

our apartment is beginning to become more and more cluttered.  boxes stacked anywhere theres a spot & our poor kitties are hunkering down under anything that protect them from the chaos.  i keep telling myself only 4 more days. only 3 more days.  only 2 more days! and we will be on our way.

i got us checked in early with the uhaul people.  and i had to list myself as a driver. really people? i am the last person who should be driving one of your uhaul trucks.  i'm a honda civic girl.  not a uhaul girl.  maybe a personal truck. but seriously? a 14' truck that can take out any structure, car, pedestrian in seconds flat? i dont think so! thats husbands job. my job? loading & hauling kitties. thats my job.

in other news... i'm so freaking sick of hearing about this stupid woman in maryland who supposedly won the mega millions.  really lady? produce the freaking ticket already!  and why on earth would any intelligent person "hide it" at their place of employment??  riddle me that batman. if i won or a group of me and my friends, family whatever won, you can bet my sweet butt i would have already made my way to austin to get my prize, hired a lawyer, everything.

this woman is such a moron. and everyday its something different.  i bought the ticket; i didnt buy the ticket, someone bought it for me.  i won; i dont know if won.  i hid it at work. get your story together. and the fact you have seven children & single working at a mcdonalds saying something.  birth control lady!! its possible they are all from the same father, etc, etc, but based on everything else, i'm not buying that either.

and dont even get me started on her lottery pool work business. yikes! someones getting really screwed there. its called a copier & john hancocks people. 

okay off my box now.

our home: an update + cloudy head syndrome

the picture really doesnt do the home justice, but its the only one i can find at the moment.  just figured  i would give an update on our home buying.  we are patiently waiting for the next step in the process.  we have succesfully gone through the inspection, signed the million papers (the first time!), got them submitted to the underwriter & are now waiting for the appraisal, survey & closing.  i think the waiting game is the most stressful part.

we have been packing what we can here the last few days & our apartment is looking more barren each day. i'm shocked at how much stuff we managed to fit into our tiny one bedroom.  i'm anxiously waiting to get the keys & have ridiculous amounts of space for what seems like a million items.  we are hoping to close at the beginning of april, but anything can happen.

i've been trying to decide where i want my blog to go at this point in my life.  i've really enjoyed all the friendships i've gained from this little space i've created in blogger world.  but sometimes i feel like i really am not using my blog to its greatest abilities. 

i still want my blog to be about me & my life (love, food and adventures included!), but i feel like theres so much more i can be doing with it.  and not to a social competition level.  i'm not writing this blog to have a million followers or to have my name recognized at the local grocery, but i want to reach out and do something, like being an active voice for a organization, charity or starting up something of the like. if anyone has any ideas, thoughts or something already happening that i can be apart of, let me know.  im thinking something along the lines of hunger outreach.. hmmmm.  thoughts?



 & for those that may have seen yesterday, i really want to start or find a local blogger meet and greet; so i'm currently playing with that idea as well.  if anyone is in the dfw area and wants to collaborate, let me know.

so many things in my head i tell you. we will see where it all takes me.

i still can't believe its the monday before thanksgiving

seriously, where did november go?! it seems as i blinked & now its time to consume ridiculous amount of tryptophan & catch up on gossip while the boys watch turkey day football.

but while i still have a few days before the ovens crank on & the kitchen mixers begin their chores of whipping a million pounds of potatoes, i figured i would fashionize the blog some, post a little fun find & share some hollywood gossip.  because thats all we need, right?

i'm gradually working on adding a few fun items to the blog, like headers and such. and if you can't already tell, i've gone back to my single sidebar days to allow for a wider sidebar.  i'm still working on it, but i'm liking the way things are turning out. maybe even lure in a few sponsors for december?  you still have a little more than a week left to email me if you are interested in becoming a sponsor.  i would love to have you.


okay is this nail art just not the cutest??  but then i love everything snowflake, winter, etc., so its not too hard to please.  i'm going to have to go on a hunt for something like this, because this is just the thing i need right now for alittle extra added holiday cheer. 

and holiday cheer is what i'm all about. seeing that black friday is this friday! (say what!) i've made it a point to turn my radio dial to the christmas music station and really get this holiday thing going.  have you auto tuned to you city's christmas station yet?

totally random, but i must put my two cents into some hollywood gossip. do people seriously think by going on the bachelor that they will find their true love? yea, i don't think so.  another case in point.  but then i really dont follow the bachelor too much, i just find it rather amusing how many people out there think that this show is really the answer to finding their soulmates.  sad. pathetic. and i kind of feel sorry for those that do.

besides everything else, i hope everyone is having a terrific, productive start to their thanksgiving weeks.  i will be back before thanksgiving to share another recipe or two & a thanksgiving post.  stayed tuned loves.

paperchains & party rock!

so you know how i told you yesterday about my glorious plans of christmas decor?? well last night i started cutting my paper strips and the assembling of my paper chains.  i managed to get one chain done (i ran out of staples). and even got the okay from the dear mister to hang it up.  can i say it looks totally christmasy and wonderful! i got more staples and tonight it is on! our apartment is going to be all kinds of festive in no time. it might even resemble this or the apartment buddy the elf decorated.  this guy has to be someone's hero. and he's mine.  who doesnt love a jillion christmas things everywhere, singing everything and love sugar? well most people, but i'm the exception to the rule.

& if anyone has a spare $120.00 they want to let me have so i can get these for myself for christmas, i would love you forever! seriously, $120?! i mean i know they have authentic Swarovski crystals and all. but they are shoes.. deck shoes for that matter. but i'm sure someone cool out there has a pair. if so, i would like to meet you. maybe i can get all sorts of crafty and martha stewart and make my own pair.

i've also added a few fun new items to my left sidebar - what i'm currently reading & formspring. formspring is probably old school to most folks, but i figured i would add this fun feature to the blog so people can ask questions if they have them. and my books. i love reading, but only if the book is a good attention grabber. i may or may not review the books, but i figured its something fun to let people know what i'm up to.

what i'm up to..

Lindsay over at Scenic Glory posed a challenge for us yesterday about we are currently up to.  So here it goes:

eating/drinking: lite vanilla yogurt w/ grape nuts mixed in, Diet Cola

listening to: whatever currently is playing on 933 FM, but my favorites right now include Bruno Mars and Stereo Love by Edward Maya.  Yum!♥

pondering: how much work I have to get done today - which appears to be alot.  also what all i want to get accomplished this weekend.  I'm hoping to get and ETSY sample done this weekend..
wearing: my favorite pair of american eagle artist jeans, an american eagle black polo, and my beloved skechers.. Hair is in a pony - keepin it simple  ♥

anticipating: so many things!! the opening of ETSY, getting my projects completed, volunteer work, the wedding, getting my tax refund! oh and don't forget winstar tonight - hopefully I'll be a winner!

baking: ooo baking!!  you know I love me some good baked food.  I really want to make some yummy valentine cupcakes, but i think it might be kind of early.. maybe i will just settle for a chocolate cake. ♥

reading: reading patterns and trouble-shooting manuals.. my sewing machine gave me all kinds of fits last night that brought lots of pirate language and tears.  ugh!  stupid machine! I am gonna do this, even if kills one of us, that's how determined I am.

loving: life in general.. i love where life has taken me so far this year and the wonderful opportunities I have been given.  I also love the mister more and more the closer the wedding gets.  I can't wait!

buying: fabric. and thread. and diet coke.. its a necessity in life.. oh and wedding things.. and healthy food..

so far 2011 has been a roller coaster of emotions and we are only five days in. 

1.the mister and i have managed to get all the attire figured out & reserved/bought for the bridal party, minus shoes and jewelry for the girls, but i have a feeling that will be super easy. this has me super excited that i will have everything done and complete in PLENTY of time before the big day!

2. i learned that a dear co-worker of mine (now retired) has only 3-6 months left to live. he was diagnosed with cancer last year, and has been a determined fighter through it all. only thing, i  really hate when doctors play God & give death sentences.  the only person who REALLY knows is God. people should be able to live life without the worry of that sentence & how much time is "left." sorry little personal opinion rant just happened there. 

3. i found out my mother has a torn rotator cuff - thus requiring surgery.  All will be okay though - I'm just ready for her to have her arm feeling good again. 

4. the mister and i have a date to go cake tasting, flower picking and decor deciding for the wedding in february - i can't wait for all that yummy baked goodness to hit my tastebuds. hopefully my our decision on cake flavors aren't too hard, because i really love cake!

5. i watched a school friend bury her little sister. 
6. i've completed an item of my list of 2011 To-Dos - sent out my first round of pen pal mailings and received one back; Courtney - you are too cute and such a doll!

it sometimes feels as though we can't wait for things/events to happen.  we plan and plan. we hope and hope. just for that one day to get here.  and when its finally here, we look back, going where has all that time gone. what did i do during that time?  i thought that exact thing this morning when i typed out today's date - January 5, 2011.  i still have trouble believing its already 2011 and everything that has already occured in the short five days. 

i need to learn to savor the day more.  make more of each and every day that we have. it would make life more precious to me, if i feel content with each day knowing i lived it fully. i also need to capture more of my days with photographs & blogging them - so many times i look back thinking "shoot, that would have been a good photo op!"

and to help with that i'm also going to begin looking for volunteer work here in the next couple of days or so, once i decide what it is i want to do.. and if the mister wants to get involved - what he would prefer to do as well.  i really would like the whole soup kitchen type work again - it really allows for one on one contact with those you are helping, plus allows me to get my hands into one of the fields i love, cooking and feeding yumminess to the world.  (i will keep an update going on the volunteer work search and completion)

i want to make my life more plentiful and hearty like a chicken pot pie.  yummy, lots of components/ingredients & layers, nourishing, a semi-tough exterior but soft and surprising inside, and warm to the soul!

i never said i was normal

I try to post everyday during the week (except weekends, unless I'm near a computer somewhere since we dont have one at home.)  This morning I was totally befuddled on what to blog about so I started thinking.  Thinking sometimes gets me alot further than where I need to be, but I decided it was time to really share some "facts" about me.  I've had this blog for a few years, but only recently did I really get into the HEART of blogging, yet I haven't really shared much about myself and my life since that wonderful day back in 1984. So here goes.... 

1. i heart the color pink! 

2. my favorite movies are the girly, laugh, cry, laugh some more, use a whole box of kleenx type.
3. i hate being home alone especially when its dark out.. too many criminal mind episodes.
4. before the mister i was unorganized - thanks to him OCD taketh over my life somedays.
5. i believe in God and all that's up there - but i don't care too much for the church.
6. antique shopping is something i will never pass down.
7. i love snail mail, even though i'm horrible about getting around to sending it to people. 
8. i'm an old soul, stuck in a young body.
9. the apple really doesn't fall from the tree - ask my parents. 
10. i'm left handed.
11. i played viola for a few years in elementary school, sang in the school choir some in junior high.  now i just play guitar hero and sing loudly and out of tune.
12. i choose busy, busy rather than being bored out of my mind.
13. i went to A&M in Corpus Christi for a few years and totally hated it.
14. i wish i would have gone to culinary/pastry school instead.
15. for once in my life, my hair is long.  like super, shock people who know me well long.
16. i'm a tv junkie.. like hardcore.  i can watch my favorites over again and never get bored.
17.  i love new york city..sometimes too much..
18. i can say i dont have friends.. i have family...
19. i feel naked without putting on my eyebrows and mascara every morning..
20. i'm terrified of needles, but pnemonia and bronchitis helped me get over them some.
21. i have never ridden a horse and i live in Texas.
22. i would love to learn how to knit and crochet correctly.
