the great pumpkin debate..

i remember growing up, carving pumpkins was the only way to go. and i eagerly looked forward to it each and every year. picking which super awesome design i was going to make & then usually failing miserably, resulting in a giant hole for my "carving."

now its 2012. & i am eagerly just as excited about decorating pumpkins as before.

but pumpkin decorating isn't what is used to be. i mean seriously. there are carved pumpkins. and chevron pumpkins. and pumpkins that are decoupaged. and ones with thumb tacks. and painted silly faces.  the possibilities are endless.

so what's your pumpkin decorating style? are you old school and carve? or try something new every year?

this year i'm thinking maybe a chevron or decoupage pumpkin for myself, while husband carves something fantastic in his.

spooktacular work party 2K11

1 - 2 - 3

the ladies i work with and i are always finding a reason to bring food to work. sometimes we just call it the monthly "snack day." other times we conveniently find a fun holiday to use as our excuse. and halloween is no exception.

here are some of the snack that we made this year.  1 & 3 are items i contributed and that brew is mighty tasty.  i'm not a big fan of boiled eggs, so the husband was very excited when i had a few not so perfect boiled eggs that he got to enjoy last night.

i must say all the food including blood sauce, swamp slime, crunchy skin, eye balls in sauce, & dragon claws were a huge hit among everyone. anyone want to guess which items were which?  we also had a few pumpkin treats which were welcomed with open arms.

i hope everyone is having a very spooktacular monday full of spooks, treats and fun!  i cant wait to see all your post halloween posts about what you wore, who you spooked and more.

p.s. i'm only 13 followers from the fun surprise.  are you one of them?
p.p.s have you signed up for the blogger secret santa?? we would love to have you!

its friday again and that means its time for Friday Fancies with {av}.  and since halloween is monday, what better theme than halloween dress up?!!

i'm never been the kind of person whos into haunted houses or scary costumes, but i still like to have fun when it comes to picking out my garb for Halloween.  so i thought and i thought this year, plus saw a few photos and came to this decision.

"originality is....a by-product of sincerity"

-marianne moore

Thanks Marianne for that little thought of wisdom from my Real Simple magazine spine.

This past weekend, we somehow managed to get lots accomplished, all the while on the scavenger hunt of a lifetime for a stinkin' ALCS Champions Shirt - little luck as we didnt find one ANYWHERE that would fit Damon or I due to all our lovely fairweather/bandwagon fans.  Nothing is a bigger peeve than someone liking something only when its "the thing" to like whether because its "hot" or "they won" etc.  Ticks me and Damon off alot - more him than me.

No moment feels greater than watching "A-Hole" striking out for the 3rd out to give us the ALCS Champion.  Thank you A-Rod/Yankees for giving us our one way ticket to the World Series.  *side note*  we weren't there sadly - pictures are courtesy a zoom lens and a big screen tv

While the game was taking place, we decided it was time to carve pumpkins.. I'm apparently a horrible pumpkin carver..  If it werent for Damon and my brother we would have just had huge holes in the sides of pumpkins.
