friday fancies #5

hey everyone!  so today i have something fun and new!  {av} over at long distance loving partnered us up and we are swapping blogs.... so cathy and i swapping blogs & talking individual style... you can head to hers if you want to check out my post...

heres cathy!!!

Hi, Cheers, Bethani! readers! It’s Cathy from Fiscally Chic, where I blog about saving money with style (and cupcakes and nesting and other fun things). This week, {av} of Long Distance Loving paired me and Bethani for a Friday's Fancies swap. Friday's Fancies is all about dreaming big and being creative.

Bethani and I decided to share a little bit of our personal style as a way for you to get to know us better. Since I write about saving money and other personal finance things, I tend to make my outfits a mix of dreaming and reality.

Jess LC dotted paisley earrings, Loft metallic stripe sweater,
J. Crew paisley scarf, Gap tee and jeans, Hunter boots

I could see myself wearing this outfit to one of the many local microbreweries in Chicago since my husband and I love craft beer. We also homebrew and an IPA should be ready soon!

Since it's currently winter in Chicago, my outfits need to balance fashion and function. Colorful scarves are my favorite way to do both. The pop of color is a simple way to jazz up an otherwise boring winter outfit.

Hunter boots are another one of my winter must haves! Plus, these come in a happy magenta which is perfect because my favorite color is pink.

I have those Jess LC dotted paisley earrings in white and wear them all.the.time! These berry ones match the boots and scarf perfectly.

The rest of my outfit is filled with classics like the white T-shirt, jeans, and a striped cardigan. That way, I can create all sorts of outfits with one simple change in accessory or piece.

Thanks for having me, Bethani! Have a great weekend!

Friday Fancies #4

hey everyone! and happy friday!   this week's friday fancies theme is something i'm totally excited about. {av} hooked up with the ever so awesome, lilly pulitzer (yea not joking!) for this week's jungle glam theme. we had one rule, but nothing too difficult.  using lilly's resort line, create a look using atleast two pieces.  and from there anything goes.

i loved pretty much all of the items from the line, so full of rich color and options.  but i'm a creature of habit. always have been.  maybe the folks over at What Not To Wear could help me get out of this funk.  so i stuck to what i know and love.  BLACK!  plus a pop of color to keep anything from getting too boring. this takes little black dress on a fun evening out to a whole new level.

who ever said jungle glam couldnt be chic and fabulous?

1. The Caroline Cardigan was one of my choices from Lilly.  Its a fun piece with that right pop, that will pair nicely into several different outfits, but gives this little black dress a whole new meaning.  Plus it will keep you extra warm when the northern winds start to blow.
2. Lilly's Julianna Dress takes your typically LBD and adds a cute thin black bow belt around the waist for an outfit that is great for work or play.
3. Since its getting cooler out (finally!,) its the perfect opportunity to add fun, cute tights to an outfit to keep the legs warm while frolicing out and about in your daily actititvies. And these polka dot tights are the perfect example.
4. What better what to strut your stuff than these heel pumps by Friis? The peep toe adds an extra level of fun an flirtiness.
5 / 6. The jewelry adds a nice little something extra to any outfit as we all know. With this outfit already having enough umph with the pops of pink, a nice simple ball bracelet and earrings are a nice finish.

Thanks again to {av} and lilly pulitzer for this fun jungle glam theme!

Friday's Fancies #3

its friday again and that means its time for Friday Fancies with {av}.  and since halloween is monday, what better theme than halloween dress up?!!

i'm never been the kind of person whos into haunted houses or scary costumes, but i still like to have fun when it comes to picking out my garb for Halloween.  so i thought and i thought this year, plus saw a few photos and came to this decision.

mary. poppins.

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8

she's fun. she's hip. and she's gives out spoonfuls of sugar to help the medicine go down. plus the fact that i totally loved her as a child.

you can check out all my other friday fancies here.

Friday Fancies #2

I got the idea for this week's Friday Fancies theme basically because its October.  And besides October being all about Halloween, its Breast Cancer Awareness month.  At my work, I've been apart of our Komen Race team every year and know what kind of impact Komen has on breast cancer awareness, prevention and finding a cure for this horrible illness.

Plus if the NFL are secure enough in their manhoods to wear pink on game day, why not throw the idea out there that a Friday Fancies can show their support as well. I didn't want my outfit to scream or vomit pink everywhere, but this outfit is very appropriate to show my support.  Enjoy!

1. Like I said before, its all about the shoes.  The Yves Saint Laurent 80 peep toe pumps made this outfit definitely ideal for October.
2. Even though these to die for earrings are way beyond my means of living, I would have no problem adding them to my wardrobe for a knock your socks off look.
3. The black blouse may not say much, but it can pair well into any outfit selection.  If you know me, I'm all about being able to make pieces work in several different scenarios.   It has some ruffle, which pumps it up from being a boring black top, to being something more.
4. I really love this skirt by ALICE.  I think it may be my favorite piece of this collection.  It has pops of pink throughout, but remains subtle for a professional work day piece or a girls night out.
5. For some reason, when I think PINK, I always think of nail polish! Essie does a fantastic job of having every shade out there, and this hue, definitely could find its place in my nail polish collection anytime!

Friday's Fancies #1

i've decided its time that i start participating in {av's} friday fancies.  and what better way to kick off the party than with fall inspiration?!  i love the colors of fall! from bronzes to rusts to espresso browns to coppers.

living in texas, fall is a hard one to predict.  you dont know if it will be a 100 degress or 50.  so this outfit i put together can fit well into both categories.  if hot, remove the cardigan, if chilly put it on. simple!

1.) I must say I love, love, love this cardigan. Everything about it screams my name. The color, the length and its ties with a belt.  And who would have though it was from H&M! I think I may have to run over there really soon and swipe one up for the cooler months.
2.) This dress by Vivienne Westwood is so gorg! The dress is perfect for work or play.  And the silk fabric makes even that more enticing.
3.) Apparently I'm a sucker for Dorothy Perkins jewelry, because #3 & #4 both come from her. Maybe its her prices?!  The long chain necklace is perfect from dress up or casual wear and pairs nicely with any color combo.
4.) Like I said, these bangle braclets are also Dorothy Perkins and I love the playfulness and colors of these bangles.  Totally perfect for fall wear.
5.) The shoes! Its all about the shoes after all isn't it? I must say my eyes glistened when I saw these.  Super fun, super fall!
6. Leather handbag. For all your essential carrying needs.
